Bath Girl

Delaney loves a bath. Tonight while she was playing I realized that the "tub" we keep all her toys in is the tub the nurses in the NICU used for her first bath. At one point she had the "tub" in the tub and was sitting inside it. Now her little bum barely fits inside but in the NICU her whole body fit inside. Wow, what changes two years can bring. After her bath I asked her what book she wanted to read and she said, "Love you ever" which translates into I'll Love you Forever, which is the sweetest book about a mom who rocks her baby and sings: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

Of course I let her stay up late for that one!

Pic of the Day

Ok, so I did take a picture yesterday...it just didn't make it to the blog! It has been incredibly cold here the last few days. The thermometer on the patio said 10 degrees when I took this picture, but I think it was actually closer to 2 or 3. It is times like this that remind me why I love the beach. It amazes me that my friend Nicole has managed to live in Alaska for 20 years! You're one tough girl!

Snowy Day!

The snow was so pretty. This morning I thought we were sleeping in really late when actually it was just the snow making it appear really light outside. There was about 3 inches on the ground and it continued to snow throughout the day until we ended with around 4 or so inches. It took a lot of control on my part to keep Delaney inside...she wanted to go out with the snow so bad. After two pair of pants, two shirts, coat, hat and gloves she was ready to go. The snow was really dry and not the best "snowman" snow, but we made the best of it. The pink and white snowman is keeping up our tradition of pink and white for the holidays. I asked Delaney what his name was and she said, "Frosty". When it was time to come in she leaned in to give him a little kiss! The snowman making must have worn her out because she didn't fight her nap at all and slept for almost three hours.

Seeing that most of my New Year's resolutions usually don't make it to day 2 I am rather proud of myself for posting two days in a row! Today is Saturday and the last complete day off from work. (I don't count tomorrow because I have to get into bed knowing I have to get up early....my own weird logic.)I took full advantage of the fact that this is supposed to be a "vacation" day. Delaney and I stayed in our pajamas until she asked me if she could get dressed!

Picture 1

Tonight we went to the Redbox and rented two movies....out of the ordinary for us...and they are chick flicks (Steve reallizes I am on football overload)....two of my favorite magazines came today and found the salt and cracked pepper popcorn I've been looking for! So tonight we are watching movies, reading magazines, eating popcorn and enjoying my last vacation day!

Pictures 2-3

Delaney called me from the living room. When I walked I found the mess on the floor. She quickly said, "I sorry...I clean it up" This led to picture two...where she is eating the mess off the floor! I guess I could have stopped her from eating off the floor but then there would not have been picture 2!

Another reason for this picture is it so quite clearly shows the pink explosion that has happened at our house! She actually told Santa that she wanted "pink and white" presents!(Note the pink/white car, couch and various other toys in the background) Even the Yogo bites she is eating off the floor are pink!

The quote for today: "Have a good nap, Delaney" I said. "Goodnight Sugarplum" Delaney said.

So in the words of Delaney: Goodnight Sugarplums!

Today was a lazy day in the Thurman house. A lot of the day was spent playing Wii and Memory. (Note to all parents: never buy memory for your toddler or you will be playing it over and over forever!) Delaney really loves the Memory game. Right now we just place the cards face up and make "matches". For a two year old she is pretty good.

Delaney didn't have a heavy winter coat. With snow in the forecast and after Christmas sales I thought I should nab one now. I found this Osh Gosh coat on sale for $12! When I brought it home I held it out and Delaney squealed, ran toward me and grabbed the coat like it was the best thing she'd ever been given. After putting it on she refused to take it off!

For our New Years meal we had black eyed peas for luck, spinach to bring money, and a prime rib roast. Hence the picture of the rotisserie! The rotisserie was the only thing Steve wanted for Christmas. I lucked out at Kohl's with a 30% off coupon so Santa brought it to our house! This was his first meal with it and the roast was outstanding. Yum!

Happy New Year!

It's a New Year!

So - a friend of Facebook posted about taking a picture a day....and I thought hmmmm....could I do that? My blogging skills have so far been lacking but I like the idea of telling your story through pictures. It is probably a crazy idea but as most of you know it is probably not my craziest! So today I'll post - tomorrow who knows!
